What is regulator pressure calibration?
A gas regulator controls the pressure of gas supplied from a cylinder or gas system to the equipment being used.
Our calibration service checks the regulator’s outlet pressure before dispatch, helping to confirm that it is delivering pressure accurately at the required setting. This provides an additional level of assurance before the regulator reaches the customer and is put into service.
Rather than relying solely on the reading shown by the regulator, customers can request an additional calibration check from Weldfast as part of their order.
The calibration equipment used at Weldfast is calibrated against UKAS standards, providing recognised worldwide traceability and further assurance in the accuracy of the calibration process.
When is pressure calibration important?
For many everyday applications, a standard regulator will provide the level of control required. However, some end users operate processes where pressure settings are considered critical and greater certainty is needed.
In these situations, pressure calibration can help provide confidence that the regulator is set correctly before installation. This may be particularly relevant where:
- A process requires a specific outlet pressure
- Consistent gas delivery is important to the end result
- Pressure accuracy forms part of the end user’s internal quality procedures
- Incorrect pressure could lead to disruption, inconsistent performance or wasted gas
